Kim Gockel  

Kim Gockel the founder & director of En L’air Dance. Kim has instructed and choreograhed in and around the Seattle area for over 30 years. She currently teaches children through adults at Westlake Dance Center, Backstage Dance Studio and Gotta Dance. Kim is also a certified Gyrotonics instructor and leads private sessions in her home. Kim earned her BA in Kinesiology from the University of Washington and has spent her career focusing on the research and implementation of safe and effective movement as it relates to dance. She has participated in many dance workshops around the country through which she has learned to think about the body mindfully and teach others to do so as well. Kim teaches modern ballet with the purpose of transforming strong, dynamic technique into meaningful movement of any genre. Kim has had the opportunity to study with dance legends including Stephanie Saland and Hannah Wiley whom she credits as having the most influence on her current perspectives on movement. Kim has choreographed for Westlake Dance Center’s “Sign of the Times” for over 15 years and during that time has won awards for choreography shown at local competitions. Kim’s unique blend of ballet technique, kinesiology and imagery has made her one of Seattle’s most beloved instructors. En L’air was created by Kim as a way to unite the Seattle dance community for the purpose of giving back through art. 2010 will be Kim’s 8th En L’air performance.

   
               
Angela Beals  
Angie Beals is the co-director of En L’air Dance. She has been an active member of the Seattle dance community studying ballet, theater, contemporary and jazz dance at Seattle area studios, namely Westlake Dance Center and Velocity Dance Center, for over 10 years. She has also participated in an array of conventions, workshops and classes here in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York. Angie has been a regular dancer for multiple dance showcases including Westlake Dance Center’s “Sign of the Times” and various In-House Shows, local Hip-Hop group “Physical Poetry” and Enertia Dance Company performances. She enjoys the opportunity to choreograph for many of these events as well. Angie has also instructed dance around the Seattle area for many years leading classes to groups of all ages. This is Angie’s 8th En L’air performance.
